Ornish diet ranked at the top for heart health

In a recent ranking of 25 diets by U.S. News and World Report, the Ornish diet developed by Dean Ornish, M.D., was ranked at the top in terms of heart health, according to the Huffington Post. While this new diet plan has been gaining traction in many health circles, some people aren’t aware of what it really entails.

The greatest benefit to the Ornish diet is its simplicity. The diet can be tailored to a person’s health needs, but in many ways it’s very close to being a vegetarian. For instance, meat, poultry and fish aren’t recommended, but healthy dairy products like non-fat yogurt, fat free cheese and egg whites are acceptable in moderate amounts.

Above all, the diet aims to have people cut out the fats, oils, nuts, seeds, avocados and refined carbs that are in their food. While the diet can be flexibile to adhere to a person’s weight loss plan, on the surface it is already a fabulous way to foster good heart health and improve the nutritional quality of a person’s daily intake.

If you’re concerned about your heart health, a change of diet is necessary and a multivitamin like Clinician’s Choice Cardio Guardian can help drastically. It is clinically proven to lower homocysteine and cholesterol levels in the blood which contribute to cardiovascular disease.
