Obesity could increase a child's risk of autism, says study

Obesity is a major problem throughout the United States that can be tied to disorders like heart disease, hypertension and a myriad of other problems. Unfortunately, a new study may have found a direct link between obesity and the likelihood that a newborn will be born with autism, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The study, which was recently published in Pediatrics, found that women who were obese during pregnancy had a 67 percent larger chance that their child would be born autistic. According to USA Today, with more than one-third of the female population of child-bearing age being obese, this problem could be far more daunting than expected.

Autism rates have steadily increased alongside obesity rates, and this new research shows that it may not have been a coincidence after all. Doctors are now warning women who are thinking of having a child to get in the best possible shape before going down that road.

In addition to getting in better shape, expecting mothers should look into a wide variety of prenatal vitamins to ensure that their baby is happy and healthy. Clinician's Choice Prenatal Multi is fortified with many beneficial nutrients that can reduce the chances of birth defects and provide optimal nutrition for mother and child.
